BNP Paribas Asset Management (‘BNPP AM’) announces the appointment of Jean-Charles (‘JC’) Sambor as Head of its Emerging Market Fixed Income (‘EMFI’) team.  He replaces Bryan Carter, who has left the company.

JC has been Deputy Head of the EMFI investment team since its inception in 2016 and has been one of the key architects of the team’s investment philosophy and approach.  He will be responsible for the governance and oversight of the investment process of the team, consisting of 14 investment professionals of eight nationalities based in four countries.

JC embodies BNPP AM’s core values, which are integral to the fabric of quality investment teams, from our vision of sustainable investing, contrarian thinking and investment conviction through to a culture of true collaboration and peer review.  These values have driven the quality of the EMFI team’s investment decision making, with a strong long-term record.

Based in London, JC has been Deputy Head of Emerging Market Fixed Income since joining BNPP AM in 2016 from the Institute of International Finance (IIF), where he was Asia-Pacific Regional Director and CEO of IIF APAC Ltd in Singapore.  Previously he was Managing Director and Head of Global Emerging and Frontier Fixed Income at Everest Capital, prior to which he was Senior Vice President of TCW (Trust Company of the West) Emerging Markets group in Los Angeles.  He began his financial career as an emerging markets analyst at Société Générale.
