BNP Paribas Asset Management awarded top PRI score for third consecutive year

September 12, 2017

BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) has been awarded the top score of A+ in the annual UN-backed Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) assessment report for a third consecutive year for its integration of Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) criteria.  The score confirms BNPP AM’s leading position as a responsible investor and its robust of application of ESG criteria in its asset management processes.

The scoring system, established by the PRI, is in accordance with the growth of ESG internationally, highlighted in particular by the implementation of Article 173 of the French Energy Transition Law.  This requires greater transparency with regard to ESG practices, as well as the growing involvement of asset managers in the implementation of increasingly successful ESG integration initiatives.

This A+ score reflects the extent and quality of the measures introduced by BNPP AM, which is at the forefront of the 1,203 asset management companies who are signatories to the PRI, in the production and publication of ESG research within its asset management teams.  It also highlights the relevance of its corporate engagement policy, its support for current initiatives aimed at encouraging companies to become more transparent about ESG issues, and welcomes the implementation of its Climate Strategy, aimed at actively contributing to the fight against climate change.

Gaëtan Obert, Global Head of Sustainability Centre at BNP Paribas Asset Management comments:

“We are extremely proud to have been awarded an A+ score for a third consecutive year, demonstrating the level of excellence of our ability to integrate ESG criteria. PRI scores are now the highest standard available, allowing institutional investors and consultants to identify those asset management companies with the best ESG integration systems. The score  is also evidence of our ongoing commitment as a responsible investor.”
